Awesome apple fritters. The service was friendly & fast - about what one would expect from a gas station. My only minor complaint would be that the creepy Bible verses posted around the structure and premises are inappropriate for a public establishment IMO.
This was my first time visiting since they entered new ownership, and I was happy to find that not much has changed! It is best to go early if you can for the best chance of getting everything you want. I purchased two apple fritters and a glazed donut for a little over $8. The speciality donuts seem bigger and perfect for sharing. I was able to enjoy mine for a few days and it remained soft and delicious! The apple fritter had a nice distribution of apples, not just a bit here and there. This is a no frills donut shop, but don't let the look from the outside deter you!
New to town! Ya wouldn't think this little spot off to the side of a gas station would have good donuts. They had a variety of flavors, I ended up getting 2 glazed but the gal working gave me a raspberry filled cuz I was having a hard time deciding! She couldn't have been any nicer. I'll definitely be back!
If you'd asked me to guess where the best reviewed donut place in South Carolina would be, I would definitely have said Charleston area. Or maybe Greenville. But Yelp, among others, apparently decided that this is the place, in Gaffney, SC. It is attached to a fairly worn down gas station, and one is greeted by bible verses at the door. I probably sold myself short by hiking first and arriving a half hour before closing as they were sold out of what I assume was a much better variety. I took a danish and was offered a free glazed donut as a Father's Day special despite not being a father. Realistically, I think they just wanted to clear out inventory. I paid in cash and kept getting offered more than the correct amount of change. Have to say though, it was a remarkably delicious cream in that danish. I wish I'd been able to try more flavors, but what I found is pretty much the archetype of a little donut place in South Carolina.
The cream filled chocolate frosted are the best! Variety is limited but what they have is consistently delicious.
I am a huge fan of locally owned hole in the wall places. That's why I refuse to give this anything less than 5 stars. But these weren't the best donuts I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, they were good! The chocolate frosted log with cream was a just a bit stale. And the sugar coated donut was delicious. My wife's cinnamon crumble was good too. The place feels a little dirty and run down but that's ok with me. All of this at a super affordable price and great customer service. When I am back in the area I will do again and try something else!
Traveled with my daughter to Sunny's Doughnuts! She had a ten dollar gift certificate. Unfortunately it had expired. The nice lady that waited on her decided to honor it anyway! I thought that was very nice and commendable! My daughter had no idea what the expiration date on the certificate was because it wasn't printed on it. I respect businesses that honor their obligations to their customers in circumstances like this and I recommend them highly!
You just can't go wrong with stopping at Sunny's Donuts when you are in Gaffney, SC. I just love this quaint little donut shop next to a gas station. The service is amazing! Always friendly and always kind. And let's not forget the product - the donuts are the best!!! If you are in the area - I highly recommend stopping at Sunny's Donuts. It's s great way to guarantee a sunny day!!!!
